Thanks - some good thoughts. My situation is similar to yours - yes it's my house, but the basement see's active duty so leaving jacks there is out. Also my house is late '30's so I'm sure theres plenty of settling involved here as well.

Couple of questions if you don't mind. First I'm not sure I understand the 1/2" plywood process - are you suggesting sandwiching it between the original joist and sistered joist, OR lay it up flat against subfloor held in place by new joists? Did your new joists hang on their own (extend all the way to rest on cross beams) OR held in place by being nailed to originals? Lastly, why do think it better to perform this step while floor is loaded by jacks vs. relaxed position? Wouldn't it depend on whether or not there is a gap between the subfloor and joists in relaxed position? If a gap then I'd imagine you'd wanna close that by jacking first, but if no gap then maybe better to just firm up everything in relaxed position to have less 'springing' in the end result? Sorry for the interogation but I'd like to get started on something along the lines of your proposal but want to be reasonably sure the results will be positive.
