Not a lally....

What kavakidd described is called a jacking post, not a lally column. A lally column is a solid post used to support floors - they are not adjustable.

I wouldn't bother with the correction, except I once wasted a trip to HD because I asked them for lally columns and didn't know to ask for jacking posts.

I previously had a 12x12 listening room with a suspended wood floor. I started by putting two jacking posts under the floor, and liked the effects so much I added two more. The second two made as much of a difference as the first two. I highly recommend doing this if you have the means. Unfortunately, my new listening room is a suspended wood floor above a finished ceiling, which is in my garage, which gets used, so I don't have many good options for stiffening the floor.
