"Room correction" can help to reduce modal peaks a little, though not completely, but it can't do anything for the low frequency response errors that vary by position. Nor does it reduce modal ringing - sort of like low frequency reverb - that makes bass instruments sound muddy and indistinct because the notes continue to ring out after the musician stops playing. The only solution for that is bass trapping, and plenty of it.
