Thanks for responding, actually the phono stage is my primary interest, although I do want the line stage to be clean, right now there's aome very audible distorsion in the mid's and very dark throughout,not exactly clean, and when I used the 2nd set of pre-outs to connect my sub woofer it was horrendous so tubby and distorted even with the gain on the sub just opened up a scoshe.
I've got some NOS Mullards and RCA's on order to replace the generic Chinese tubes which some are doubtless funky.
As far as isolating the phono stage did you mean shielding that circuit, as in boxing it or even a seperate enclosure ?
When it comes to electronics I'm a spud, but I think if I get in too much trouble I have a friend that's an EE.
The volume control is noisy as well, which I'm going to clean up, do you think replacing that pot is generally worthwhile ?
And if so what kind of money does one need to spend for good quality ? I saw that the prices run the gamut.regards fredj
