Surplus Transformer

12.217.70.88

While searching through a surplus store for a 1:1 or step-down transformer, I stumbled across a modestly priced Sorgel 15 KVA single phase 480/240 240/120 model. I understand how to wire it for a balanced power source, however, are there any downside considerations (impedance, etc.) for such a transformer. :-)...my limited transformer knowledge disappeared years ago, thus soliciting advice. It would be used on a dedicated circut for my amps. It could be located well away from the amps, and given it's capacity, I can't imagine my amplifier loads would induce hum in it. Am I missing any downside to using such an a transformer for balanced power? I did score a 1.5 KVA isolation transformer, wired it up and does appear to lower the noise floor on a single amp. Likely could use it on my digital stuff as recommended in this forum. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or advice! John
