I don't get it

Quotes:
1. "There is a common misconception that noise is something airborne, picked up by cables..."
2. "Increasing the distance between signal cables and powerful magnetic fields is the best cure for either electric or magnetic field problems"

If the noise is not airborne, why do we have to increase the distance? Kind of contradiction?
