Jeff, remember me? I'm using Jose's design too, made from the HD concave brass knobs and copper pipe caps.I switched from the 1/2" glass marbles to the largest size chrome steel balls I could get, which were about 5/16" from a bicycle shop. If you can find a machine shop you can go bigger and have a choice of materials. Someone here actually posted a full field test, but that was with possibly Barry's Hip Joints (forgive me, Barry, but I cannot do the copyright logo!).
If I recall, the HD knobs are a 1.5" wide dish, but they are a spherical section of a much larger diameter, say at least a 2" or 3" sphere. Whatever the finish, gold or silver, they're actually a brass base. Does that help, Barry?
