Be careful with silver!

Silver forms oxide really quickly if it is unplated. If you plug dissimilar metals together they can form a galvanic connection and for a resistive barrier between them as well. An earlier poster said that silver was ruthlessly revealing - and while it might be true - oxide is ruthless on sound, though not revealing at all! :-)
I think no matter what cables and connectors you use - making sure they are clean and free of contamination will keep the musical information without distortion.

If a dissimilar metal situation or oxide formation (bare copper, silver, etc.) is unavoidable, you can help it some with ProGold or any number of competing contact conditioners that prevent oxygen and moisture from getting in there and forming oxide.

I use progold on all my interconnects, speaker wire after cleaning them of any visible oxite (deOXIT, or lately I have used a vinegar-salt solution for copper).
