I've been an asylum inmate for some time but have rarely posted. I'm a compulsive tweaker/upgrader/DIY freak and it's my belief that the hobby is supposed to be fun--the forum seemed way too serious, esoteric and lacking in levity so I posted my silly msg just to test the waters and see who my friends might be.I've been using the OFC/silver/Teflon stuff for some time in point-to-point wiring for Hafler MOSFET power amp upgrades and Dynaco tube amp restorations, and I've actually put together some IC's using gold-plated Dayton terminations and RatShack silver solder, encasing the pairs in braided nickel/copper sheathing I buy by the reel at Boeing Surplus and wrapping the whole assembly in heat-shrink. They're superior to 1-meter interconnects in the $70-$130 range (we're not allowed to use brand names here) but they're simply mechanically and sonically better. They run me about $15 per pair.
I only tried the treatment method in my original post once, and the results were subjective and arbitrary. Perhaps Aurum's post is the answer--the Wiccan priestess was not virginal and no one present had the least desire to see her naked. I live in Western Washington at New Age Ground Zero, so finding a replacement with the proper qualifications shouldn't be too difficult; I'll keep you posted.
