I built a DIY noise filter here in the US on 120V using the John Risch design, which has 3 of the .047uF and 1 .01uF caps that are X2 across the line rated plus 2 MOV's and 2 inductors. It worked pretty well, but recently I upgraded it by also adding in 2 .47uF 400V caps (not Auricaps and not X2 across the line) that are not directional. I added these in parallel after the first MOV and .047uF caps between hot and neutral. They made an additional improvement to the filter and have been running for a couple of weeks now.
