Thanks, Al! The gear in question is MF A3 CD and A300 integrated. I already changed most of the power supply caps to Nichicon Great Supplies or other Nichinon models. The improvement was so great (the characteristic MF thinness is entirely gone) that I began to wonder if there's something else I could do to the power supplies. I'll probably change the diodes and regulators, but so many people talk about either adding capacitance or bypassing that I wanted to know more. Apparently, there's little concensus and I just might have to try it out for myself. You for one say that it probably won't do any good but E below has bypassed the power supply caps in his MF A2 amp with apparent success.
