I don't know that a deeper cup would offer any advantage in terms of dust but I do know if will be at a disadvantage sonically as it would raise the resonance frequency if the diameter is kept constant. If the diameter is enlarged you could deepen the cup but this is essentially making the design larger, not more dust resistant and not necessarily better sounding. Besides, if your environment is that dusty, I don't know that you could prevent it anyway.
