You want the strongest epoxy you can find, and I highly recommend JB Weld, which can be found at WalMart and most auto parts stores.If you're willing to spend a little more time constructing these, I had great results by omitting the wood base and forming the entire base out of epoxy (you just need to make a simple mold out of some type of slippery plastic, or line the mold with wax paper - epoxy will also not stick to vinyl electrical tape). The epoxy is much harder than wood and thus is a much better vertical coupler, which is a major function of a roller ball device (the other obviously being horizontal isolation).
