Didn't work for me!

139.134.218.53

I tried the Vibrapods after reading the rave review in TAS where the reviewer placed the pods under speakers. My floors are suspended timber. I have Proac Response 2's on heavy sand/lead loaded stands. The speakers have cups fastened to their bottoms which accept up-pointing spikes on top of the stands. Replacing the spikes between stands and speakers with pods resulted in a far less precise and focused sound. Instrumental impact and snap was rounded off. The pods were chosen to be weight matched to the speakers according to the manufacturers instructions. I had a similar impression when I tried Blutak between the speakers and stands - but I've seen others recommend this arrangement with R2's. I think, as with all these things, you've got to suck it and see.
Maybe it works better with heavier floorstanding speakers, it just didn't work for me. It also makes stand mounted speakers a liitle more prone to being knocked over - the speakers moved about when prodded (they are rock solid with the spikes and cups)- a factor if you have young children.
The pods had better effect when used to isolate my amplifier and cd player. I've yet to try them under my TNT - I'm thinking of some sort of isolation 'sandwich' with the pods in the middle.
