Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |
|
I am planning to build a compact 3-way system to cover the frequency range above 180 hz only (I already have woofers that I am happy with). It needs to be of very high-sensitivity for use with a multi-amped, Marchand active (tube) crossover, low power SET setup (each driver will have its own 2A3 powered amp). I am leaning toward the Focal 7K2 for the lower mids and the ATC SM75-150S for the upper mids. The tweeter is still open and possibilities include the Focal TLR and TC120dx2, the Raven R-2, the Scan Speak Revelator, the Morel MDT37, and the Swan RT2. All of which have sensitivities greater than 93 db and all (except the Scan Speak) are nominal 8 ohm impedances. This is my first DIY project, so please be gentle (but candid) with any advice. Thanks, Bob N
