I had stands made of .5" aluminum sheet and took it all the way to the floor (about 24") with the same footprint as the Speaker Art Super Clefs and had the tops made of .75" aluminum to match.....I had everything grain sanded and black anodized and can say that the aluminum stands sounded considerably better than the steel ones, probably due to lack of hysteresis between the large magnet in the woofer and the stand.....I only had the tops made up to have them engraved with the Speaker Art name and found the speaker sounded better with the ten or so pounds of aluminum on top....F=MA so the greater mass lowered the resonant frequency of the speaker box I imagine.......I have tried lots of feet down through the years and keep coming back to those little .5" in diameter x .125" stick ons from Russell Industries.....I have tried felt and didn't like what I heard, but this is something to play with.......I would stop speculating and get your hands dirty playing with the granite and various feet and report back....
