I've changed the 5532 of MF X-DAC (4 of them... how come they need so many !!!) with TI TL072 (JFET, Slew rate = 16, 5 ma current only). I changed all four and the highs are good but the bass is muddy and spineless. May be the current is relatively low. When I only change the two neared to the ditigal side, it's good but not very good. WHen I revert it back and change only the two nearest to the output, then the compromise came. The bass is still powerful and the highs are very good.My question :-
Should I go for high current and high slew rate ? LM833 has higher current (8 ma) and a slew rate of 8 (5532 should be 7). DOes that look like a good one ?I don't have much choices in Sydney though I'm starting to browse the yellow pages hard.
