Room treatments are always an individual thing. However, you really should try an absorber on the back wall before giving up on the absorbers on the side walls.Diffussion can be effective, but as with all things audio, there is no substitute for experimentation.

http://members.nbci.com/Jon_Risch/catch2.htmBTW, I have verified my analysis for the Room Lens, and built some for a friend, they were not as effective in my room as the full blown absorbing treatments. They can be made to go lower in action by lining up two of the three pipe versions, just as Argent now recommends, and if one is constructing their own set, they can make 5 or 6 pipe versions per my recommendations on one base, and avoid having to deal with two seperate bases.
