Thanks Gary. I couldn't use these because they are for a series stepped attenuator. I guess they have stepped attenuator and ladder attenuator confused as I think they claimed they are both for a ladder stepped attenuator which only has one series resistor plus the ground resistor and two switch contacts, solder joints, wire, selector switch, mode switch, RCA jacks. Man, this adds up doesn't it! (If I had it to do over again I would have left out the mode switch.) I was very surprised mine sounds as transparent as the two resistors I soldered unto the input jacks of my power amp.
There is the formula provided by a kind "Tweaker" which I can use:
R1 = .89125(R1+R2)Set R1+R2 to the attenuator value you want.
For R1+R2 = 50K, just plug in the numbers.
R1 = .89125(50K) = 44.6K. R2 must equal (R1+R2) - R1 which gives 5.4K.
To double check: 20log[R1/(R1+R2)] = 20log(44.6K/50K) = -1 dB
