Um, actually it's not so simple as making speaker wire with it... I was yanking the center conductor out of RG-59, threading Litz down the center and replacing the braid with copper foil EMI tape for DIY interconnects. Worked quite well, but I ran out of Vallium! Whee, you try threading an 8x36 Litz down a plastic tube with a 22-24 gauge hole and see how long you stay sane!!!! Thorsten got me into these occasional bouts of insanity as he was doing similar with 40 gauge wire at the time, but anything for the sake of experiment /_-) This is an asylum, right? (^-^) Next time I'll just get some nice 1/2 inch foam cable and slit it, or just use it for Kimber clones. Want to try making some Ubyte-2 speaker cables out of heliax (also JPS labs super-conductor clones), but have been too busy to do much experimenting since I moved.... still haven't gotten around to experimenting with some al-core voice-coil wire John Risch sent me a few years ago when we used to babble with Steve Lampen, Thorsten, Greg (Smith?), and Chris over on RAHE (hey John, if you're reading this, thanx, I still have it, and your address... you want a 100' or so of 8x36 Litz wire to experiment with?... the insulation is rather tough and the stuff will make you insane to solder unless you have a solder-pot though). Anyway, Litz should make good speaker wire... maybe follow a variation of Chris's CAT-5 braiding method (I haven't tried it as I don't have a solder pot and I about burned down the house trying to tin it in a spoon over the stove), and although it makes good coax, it's just not worth the effort if you value your sanity... but then what can you say about a bunch of idiots who spend quiet evenings at home braiding wire?.... get a life maybe? (^0^)
