That is, if you value the product at all.I can't believe you would suggest something like this Victor. I find it amazing to say the least. That's like saying that corn or vegetable oil will work instead of motor oil if your in a pinch. While they are all technically oils, there is a HUGE difference and nothing good would come of it.
I get this type of thing in the shop all the time. If the knucklehead wouldn't have done something like this, the product would never have had to come in for repairs in the first place. What would have been a minimum charge for a simple cleaning now turns into something that runs 3 - 4 times the price. If you don't know what your doing or don't have the proper tools to do the job correctly, find someone that does. It's a lot cheaper and far more effective in the long run.
There is a reason that there are specific chemicals made for this purpose. Even at that, many of the products on the market do not do you any favors in terms of cleaning the pot well or leave behind WAY too much residue. The more residue it leaves behind and the thicker it is, the more it will hold and pack dirt, dust and carbon in it. Why take the time to take the unit apart only to make more work for yourself at a later date. Do it right one time with good quality chemicals and it will last you years longer without the need for as much maintenance or replacement of the parts.
Do a search on "cleaning pots", "pots" or "tips on how to clean pots", etc... I did a very thorough post on the do's and dont's of this and what NOT to use. Sean
