I had problems with this too. Ordered the satellite cable from Maplin, waited 5 months(!) and when it came the copper foil kept falling apart when removing the braid
-- aside to Thorsten: other DIYers don't have a problem with braid...
but Thorsten was able to direct me to the material to do the job -- from a stained glass window shop. You can buy copper foil tape, only question I have is, after removing all outer sheathing, do you wrap the foil barber shop style, leaving a gap from one winding to the next, or do you overlap, ala the mummy?
Tried both ways, didn't seem to notice a difference.The big thing is the air gap. Foam insulation may well work as well.
