I personnally would put it exactly the other way round- soft domes never sound like hihats, and only titanium tweets can do it.
In a car that is a different thing, with all the glass around I´d say it needs some "restrain". The Focal TDX for example is either too bright, or when used in the right application a nearly perfect tweeter. Hey, I play drums too- my opinion
