Zobel - what exactly is it and how can I build one?

Hey there;
I do have an adustable Zobel on my German Speaker Cables (HMS) and in the instruction manual it explains how you can "tune" your cable by changing the jumpers on the Zobel.
It als talks about tightening up the bass.
Since I'm looking for a "helping hand" for my new British amp, which has a very "loose control" on the bass line, I'm interested to know how I can buils my own Zobel for my 2 sub woofers.
Any suggestions and building-instructions, experience...
