Up until recently, double C cores, provided superior regulation, to that of most commonly available toroidal types. ALL double C core transformers provide:Much better space efficiency (unless the amplifier chassis is cylindrical)
Far superior mains noise isolation.Double C core transformers are tricky to build right though. Toroidals are much easier (cheaper).
Like everything, though, you should look at ALL the specs of a transformer, before choosing.
