Will the circuit breaker work fine without the coils also in series or is there a working synergy between them? ]Actually, the synergy is between the inductors and the MOV's, so if you delete the inductors, the Spike protection goes way down. With the inductors, the device can protect against surges and spikes as good or better than just about any unit out there.
As for the circuit breaker, it does have some resistance, but it is no worse than most any other, and probably better than a lot of other types. I would NOT use the MOV's (or any other spike/surge protection device) without the use of the CB. Forget fuses.
