It has been my own experience that the filter only version of the DIY AC Line Filter does not obviously restrict dynamics of most power amps. Two factors can cause this to be coem quite noticable: bad sockets or outlets, including the use of mediocre power outlet strips, and excessive current draw, as in a large high current draw amp.If you followed the recommendations in the DIY nopte, and made a good connection to the AC outlet, they should not have been that obvious, and in most cases, the reduction of line hash outweighs the minor loss of amp dynamics that might occur. Then again, you may be in a fairly clean AC power situation too.
The Magnan trick of paralleling large capacitors across the AC line can be dangerous if not executed properly, and still causes the chance of a shock under certain fault conditions. See my comments on the Magnan caps in the Tweaks section, use the search engine.
