Paco, I'm not an electrician, nor have I done a whole bunch of house wiring, but your tweak gives me a feeling that this just doesn't seem to be the best way to go about improving your ac feed. A hospital grade outlet is $10 or so, and a quality male power cord plug and IEC connector would total close to the same. Install the outlet, hook up the connector and plug to your new wire, and not only would I bet that sonically you wouldn't be able to tell the difference, but you and your family might sleep a bit safer at night too. There must be a reason that no appliances or other plug in devices are ever hardwired in, and if only because of never seeing it done, that would be a good enough reason to prevent me from doing it.

You're lucky CE isn't here, just the thought of what he might say about this tweak has me laughing. Electricity is similar to sex in that if you don't do either of them safely, you can wind up in a drawer with a tag on your toe.
