Ok I know the speed of electricity isn't exactly C, but its close enough for this question. Well, I have to admit I'm stumped with an issue: can unequal wire length affect phase? Here's what I mean. Imaging you are transmitting a sine wave of with a wavelengh of 30 feet to speakers connected to an amplifier. If you had two pairs of wire, one 30 feet long and one 15 feet long connected to the same amplifier outputs, would identical speakers connected to the far end of each wire (and on the same plane, pointed in same direction)be out of phase with each other? Obviously the speed of electricity through these short wires is virtually instantaneous, it will not affect phase, but I can't stop thinking that the image of the sine wave can only be transmitted as fast as the speed of sound. If that is so, the two speakers will be out of phase with each other. On the other hand perhaps any point on that sine wave's curve is transmitted at virtually the speed of light - phase changes are insigificant across 15 feet. Can you help me figure this out?
