If you're going to make your own, I'd suggest a preferred arrangement that has the additional benefit of low machining required. Get strip bar magnets ½" x ½" x 6" then assemble 6 ½" equispaced apart on some duct tape

-----------------------------This will render > ¾" orface for the cable as you wrap it around. For stock power cords, you should substitute ¼" for ½" on the previous design (bars & spaces) which would render slightly < ½" orface.
If you can find magnets of different dimensions, like for example 10mm x 20mm x 100mm. And, you own a stock cord 15mm thick & an audiophile cord 25mm thick. Then, you'd arrange the half dozen magnets like ....

| | | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | | |
+-+ +-+ +-+ +-+ +-+ +-+
-----------------------------If you let A=10mm & B=20mm
... the orface will be 17.3mm
... for the 15mm stock cableIf you let A=20mm & B=10mm
... the orface will be 34.6mm
... for the 25mm performance cableHowever, both will be roughly 60mm thick when assembled.
