I suggest you check out the ASC website, and read what the operating principle is.
I have also read the claims at DECWare, and his claim that it took umpteen tube traps to equal one of his absorbers sounds like bull to me. Only two of the bass traps could have been in the true corner of the room if stacked on the floor, and if he went to the lengths to place them properly for the mumbers involved, then only about 6 could have been placed in the true corner intersections if placement was expanded to the wall floor and wall ceiling interface corners. Six tube traps of any size will absorb a lot of bass in the corners! If larger traps are used, in most cases two of these are sufficient for all but the largest rooms, and then, placement as suggested by ASC at the 1/2, 1/3, etc. points is called for.
