General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

In the past I've used separate Ayre preamp and amp to drive KEF Reference 1s, but I've downsized and now use KEF LS60. I could drive the Reference 1s with an Ayre AX-7e integrated I have, but wonder if an AX-5 would be a major improvement.

In truth, I love the sound and simplicity of the LS60, but the Reference 1s are too handsome to sell -- the reasonable thing to do.
