So, I took the advice you offered about not repairing my woofers myself. Since the speakers in question were 30 year's old, I decided it was a crap shoot having the surrounds replaced and hoping that they would still sound the same.I was encouraged to check my speakers because I had noticed a significant drop in the bass response. So, I did what any self-respecitng audiofool would do, I bought new speakers :-)
When I went to istall the new speakers, I discovered that the port tube of one of the old speakers had come unglued and was laying in the cabinet. So that's where my bass response went....LOL
So now once the port tube is back in place, the speakers will do duty in the garage.
