I work near the Oakland Zoo (above) and Knowland Park, from which the father-and-son alpacas, Boogie and Woogie, escaped.
Audiophiles are well aware, that the west coast is among the most expensive places to live and visit. That is partially why they keep asking for more coverage of the west coast, which, of course, provides the context for all this music and audio.
In addition, several audiophiles, especially those from SoCal, have pointed out that the CA coast going through Malibu, Santa Barbara (above), Morro Bay, Big Sur, Monterey, Santa Cruz, Marin, and beyond is "honeymoon territory." They like to rub it in, that my timing was all wrong, going to Santa Cruz for college, not a honeymoon.
Audiophiles do lament that, starting in the middle of high school, I just didn't have many guy friends. If I did have guy friends, then we audiophiles would have had more recruits.
Above, we were at a Santa Cruz beach, and were out late enough, to catch the sunset. We would sigh, "Other than Hawaii, there's nothing, until we hit Japan."
And of course, as an audiophile, you'd dream about Japan's Kiseki and Koetsu phono cartridges.
If you go along Highway 1 north, out of Santa Cruz, you may not notice the abandoned railroad tracks, which, I believe, go up to the tiny town of Davenport. Anyway, if you park, walk over the tracks, you'll encounter many beautiful cliffs and beaches. Some of the latter are still clothing-optional. And because these coasts are isolated, they are hardly ever crowded.
Back in college, my female friends liked that the clothing-optional beaches were sparsely-visited. Therefore, no one was there to bother you; and you had the whole place to yourself. The girls also appreciated that when there were other visitors, the latter tended to be adult gay males or "Mother Earth" women. So many years have elapsed, that my friends are now the middle-aged moms :-)
