These are remarkable speakers, and may give me the best desktop listening experience of which I am aware. I use these speakers with an additional subwoofer (Dayton 8 inch active), though it's not entirely necessary.

These speakers have sometimes been called a miniaturized version of the 3.7. I can't speak to that assertion, but I certainly agree with The Absolute Sound in its characterization of the Mini's (https://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/magnepan-mini-maggie-loudspeaker-system-tas-223/). Sound is detailed, with depth, and appears to reach beyond the physical space the speakers occupy. Soundstage is coherent. High and mid frequencies are smooth, and the system performs well in the bass region (given size limitations).

Don't use a flea-strength desktop with these speakers. To come alive, they need real power. I use a Crown XLS 1002 amplifier (yes, I know, not "audiophile-approved" necessarily) and it really does an excellent job driving these speakers.

If you spend a lot of time at your desk and want to carry your audiophile passion to your workspace, these are worth the money.

Product Weakness: Well, they cost more than some desktop speakers.
