for the C3Based upon existing reviews, I was hoping for a wide and tall soundstage, excellent detail resolution and dynamic capabilities in a great looking and well built compact 3-way design. The C3 has certainly delivered on all counts, even beyond my expectations.
First off, let it be said that if you are looking for a compact standmount speaker that excels in vocal and piano reproduction, look no further.
The 3-way design of the C3 will unravel and unfurl the complex sound structures of acoustic and electric instruments in eye-popping manner. Not kidding here, "resolution" is what the C3 is all about...
But let it be noted that these speakers spray sound pretty darn evenly EVERYWHERE (except backwards). So, in the better scenario, this equates to a super large listening window both vertically and horizontally. But in the worse scenario, this might equate to slightly bright and edgy sound.
Got a completely untreated rooms made up of many hard, reflective surfaces? Absorption treatments at first reflection points are the ticket here. The C3 speakers also may not sound too great when set up in "crossfire" toe-in fashion (approximately 45 degrees of toe-in) as the resulting sound may seem too hard and bright. About 22 degrees of toe-in and a listening distance about 1-1/2 times the distance between the two speakers sounds perfect, at least in my room.
These speakers are keepers, for me. Highly recommended !
Product Weakness: Broad dispersion pattern and flat frequency response might sound too "bright" or revealing in certain types of rooms. In such cases, absorption treatments at first reflection points around the room is recommended for best sound. Product Strengths: Excellent detail resolution and dynamics in a compact 3-way speaker design. Unsurpassed build quality and finish for a speaker in this price bracket.
