Speakers can take a month or two to break-in and often sound less than enormously appealing during break-in.
Did you try before buying? In case you bought without having heard them with something close to your system, if not actually in your home, then that's the perils of buying speakers without a telling audition. It's a quick road to a false economy buying speakers this way. Lots of people fall for this thinking a reviewer's summary of a pair of speakers is going to land in the same patch as their own.
