Dzurko Jaguar - searching for info

Hi.

A year ago I bought a pair of second hand Dzurko Jaguars ( Serial Nr 117L/R ). I believe these are early production of the first and original model. I also have the original stands.

I am intrigued by the performance of the speakers but I still feel like I'm only getting 95% of what is there. I feel that I can get another percent or two out of them. The bass is some of the best I have heard from standmount speakers. There is great resolution and dynamics. My little problem is somewhere in the upper midrange/lower treble. It sounds a little thin and peaky and perhaps having a slight phase problem - I can't get the soundstage to "lock" in place.

During the last year I have experimented ALOT with placement/room and system and I can honestly say that the problem seems like a signature of the speakers.

I have tried to search for info and this is where YOU might help me:

- The original jaguar was tested in stereopile ( The very first stereophile I ever bought - and can't find again )I think there was a problem that was fixed after the review and in models produced later. Is this a fact ? and are mine pre-review?

- A manual I have found online indicates that the of-center tweeters are suppose to face outwards. Is this correct? anybody who can help with usefull info on plasement etc are welcome.

- I have tried several tubeamps but no transistor ( I'm a tubeguy). Any gear that is "clicking" with Dzurko?

- I understand that mr.Dzurko is involved in ACI. Is it possible to modify my speakers?

My system is:
Meridian 508.24
Counterpoint SA5000e
MFA m120c
Cables from Transparent, Cardas and Tara Labs.

English is not my first language, I live in Norway so pardon my english. I might have one of a very few Dzurko speakers in my country so - PLEASE SHARE !

Have a nive day

Atle
