Apply heat to BOTH metal pieces simultaneously with tip of iron, then touch solder wire where pieces join opposite of the solder pencil/gun tip. As soon as solder flows, pull both tip and solder wire away.I am not an expert on electronics but I have built several kits successfully (meaning they worked on turn-on). :-)
