Hi Smoke,I can't think of any reason that this product would have "any" affect on your perception of high frequencies, except that it might have raised the tweater to a level more favorable to your listening height.
Coupling and or de-coupling will have little effect on HF's.
There is a "very small" chance that "de-coupling" would allow the speaker as a whole to "vibrate/resonate" more which "might" negatively impact the tweeter, but should be negligable.
