...when to simply stop issuing yr strongly held opinions when they are simply not backed up by facts. But then it's typical of the mentality of those who make people who criticize politicians look foolish by virtue of juvenile, insulting nicknames. If you wish to believe that Dick Dale was 'no more talented or innovative' than Schenker, that is yr right & privilege, as it would be to believe the moon is made of green cheese.
However, neither is true.
Unless you're willing to dismiss the influence of Dale's innovations on Jimi Hendrix. Are you now going to try to tell us that Hendrix was mentored by Schenker also?
Or maybe you just don't think that's all that relevant, but that goes hand in hand with how little you seem to have heard, if you find Schenker to be as great as you do.
I go out of my way to listen to music that I don't like, because it's a learning experience. I find Schenker unremarkable, but then I'm debating with a guy who thinks adding his work to a list of guitar solos would somehow make it 'objective.' That, coming from someone who didn't even know who Larry Wallis was.
Not surprising you'd denigrate a clip with Merle Travis as you did. I suppose he wasn't innovative either, although his designs for the electric guitar were being done at the same time as Les Paul's and Leo Fender's. Joe Maphis? Whodat? Get me a cold one, Cletus!
