Any instrument that you do not touch or make physical contact with in order to play has gotta be a little tough. I read somewhere that the sliding tone in "Good Vibrations" was not a Thermin but rather an audio signal generator that happened to be in the studio for equipment alignment purposes. Years ago I built the Big Briar Thermin kit and had to call their customer service and Bob Moog answered the phone.
