June 25th 1966 at the Fillmore

saw an intense show with FZ opening for Lenny Bruce who was whacked out of his gourd. Two months later Lenny was dead on a bathroom floor with the syringe still in his arm, a brilliant man that the system broke into fragments.
I remember the show clearly, FZ would signal a change in the melody or song by twitching an elbow or lifting one leg or with little body jerks. It was an amazing experience. The fact that LSD was still legal made it especially intense.
His first album was not on the street yet the band played it and to say it was different does not quite capture the level it took the audience to.
