Ah, China Beach. 40 years ago, we attended Presidio Middle School. After school, we'd make the short walk to China Beach. There, we talked about, among other things, the music. And when it came to Wham's "Everything She Wants," George Michael was at his most tortured.
We hardly ever go to China Beach nowadays. But "Everything She Wants" remains in constant rotation. And now that we know that George Michael was gay, "Everything She Wants" doubles down on the misery, angst, hopelessness, and torture.
