Ah, SI, or Saint Ignatius College Prep. 40 years ago, some of my older neighbors had to commute across San Francisco, to go to SI. But these neighbors introduced me, via "Be Your Man," to Jesse Johnson.

In the early-1980s, Prince, because of contractual agreements, had Flyte Time. This then morphed into The Time, and later, Morris Day & The Time. But anyway, guitarist Jesse Johnson became a member of The Time.

In 1985, Jesse Johnson went solo, and "Be Your Man" was his first hit. He actually wrote and produced it. But if it sounds like something Prince would write or perform, there was that history.
