Greg Kihn, "Lucky"

The late Greg Kihn was originally from Baltimore. But 40 years ago, he was living here, in Berkeley. He came out with "Lucky," which wasn't all that popular in 1985, even less so now.

Through talent and smarts, not luck, many of my friends, including my future wife, made it to UC Berkeley. They had chem classes and labs in Latimer Hall.

Greg Kihn occasionally performed at the Greek Theater, which is across Gayley Road, from Latimer Hall. After his music career wound down, Kihn moved to the South Bay, where he was a long-time radio host. Kihn sang some of the best a cappella national anthems, at San Jose Sharks games. But hey, don't overlook Kihn's "Lucky."
