35 years ago, I had a small handful of friends, who were at Southern California universities. That included UC Santa Barbara.

When my SoCal friends came up to meet me at Santa Cruz, they said that, instead of taking the ugly I-5, take the more pastoral Highway 101. And here, even though Eric Johnson was from Texas, his instrumental, "Trademark," with the video of horses, fit the farms along California's Highway 101.

Indeed, a couple years later, I would indeed take Highway 101, listen to EJ's "Trademark," and make it to Cal Poly SLO, UCSB, and UCLA.
