Eric Johnson, "Cliffs Of Dover"

35 years ago, like a breath of fresh air, Eric Johnson's "Cliffs Of Dover" rang through our dorm. No, it wasn't the cliffs of Dover, but a couple of my dormmies went to Santa Cruz's West Cliff Drive.

It was low tide, which meant that, at the bottom of the stairs at Steamer Lane, you could actually walk on a little bit of shore.

The clean Fender tone of "Cliffs Of Dover" has always been an audiophle reference. And to our surprise (don't know how these things get nominated), in 1992, "Cliffs Of Dover" won a Grammy, for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
