35 years ago, I had a friend, Stephanie, from the college clubs. Whenever we "dragged" her out of her dorm room at night, she would spray herself.
One night, the clubs sponsored a dance. The DJ played what we would later learn was Anything Box's super-fun "When We Lie." Stephanie was looking for guys to dance with. She and I spotted two strays, who, we assumed, were gay. She motioned to one of the gay guys, while I sauntered over about 20', and winked at the other guy. Stephanie and I "drifted" to the middle of the dancefloor, where we hooked up with each other, leaving the two stray gay guys to make a connection.
Because the media were turning to "alternative" music genres, the synthpop of Anything Box's "When We Lie" was never well-known to begin with. But we've played it ever since, and it's always been well-received. "When We Lie" arguably is more well-known now, than ever before.
