40 years ago, in early 1985, Alison Moyet's "Invisible" was a minor hit. It was about the girl wanting to continue the relationship, but not being noticed by her boyfriend. And then, "Invisible" disappeared, and we didn't really hear it much, for the rest of the 1980s.
In the early-1990s, my residential college had a dance. Reading the sad vibes, the DJ craftily played Moyet's "Invisible." One of the girls from my floor gawked, "I haven't heard that in.....forever!"
I wish I had photos from back in the day. Instead, more recent ones will have to suffice. But after the dance, my dormmie, who did not have a boyfriend at the time, sang "Invisible" in the shower.
Enough time has gone by, that now some of our kids are in college. When they go to their gym, they can just call up Moyet's "Invisible," and have at it.
